“In childhood, I grew up moving from place to place. Journeying from Paris to Asteroid B-612. England to Hundred Acre Wood. America to the riverside home of Frog and Toad.”
This transitory upbringing gave me an early glimpse at life’s ephemeral and liminal nature, and lead me to treasure concepts like home, family and friendship all the more.
“Characters searching for and finding these things became cornerstones within my storytelling.”

Journey
Paris born E.K.Mosley is a British writer and illustrator who grew up moving between Texas and London, but now lives by the Cornish seaside; a wild and wondrous source of inspiration.
Scribblings on the walls were e.k.mosley’s first artworks (now unfortunately lost). Which ultimately led to a degree in illustration at Falmouth University.
Now a freelance illustrator and writer, e.k.mosley’s books are full of captivating detail and whimsical characters searching for friendship, fun and adventure.
Inspired by foreign music, dogs and frogs, e.k.mosley enjoys everything from cake to tadpoles.
Growing up with dyslexia e.k.mosley found enjoyment in the sound, shape and feel of words and says,
“It gave me a deep curiosity about spelling which to this day is a mystery yet to be solved.”
This perhaps also lead to e.k.mosley’s love of listening to stories, be it audiobooks, conversations, or the tall tales of ribbiting frogs.
Approach
e.k.mosley works in a few medias:
• acrylic paint pens
• ink/ watercolour
• digital
• a unique form of hand-cut stencil screen-printing inspired by old Japanese Woodblocks.
This range of media gives a few distinct styles. With the digital work creating humorous, simple and spontaneous illustrations.

While the paint, ink and screen-print illustrations are filled with hidden details and emotive colours that entice and invite the viewer in.

Creative Style
Intertwining children’s book writing with a fascination of the natural world is what makes e.k.mosley’s stories so delicious and imaginative.
Balancing the familiar with the unfamiliar, e.k.mosley creates stories that are full of gentle dream-like places and curious characters who unveil a deep understanding of the human condition.
Bold, magical, whimsical, humorous, thoughtful, colourful, fantastical, poetic; are some of the words used to describe e.k.mosley’s work.
However e.k.mosley assures us,
“my cat would describe it as good to sit on.”

“An Instant Classic, Beautiful Throughout!”
I adored reading this book, the illustrations are amazingly beautiful, detailed, and resplendent. Each page is like a gift for the eyes and its own piece of art to be admired.
The textures and patterns will have you opening your eyes wide like looking into a beautiful dream!
I love how Mosley seamlessly blends their love of nature and folklore to create a really captivating story, teaching us that there is magic in the world that can be found. There are so many animals to be found in this book.
The message is heartwarming, about finding friendship and caring for one-another. The gift of helping your friends out comes to benefit you tenfold!
Please, please, more books in the future by E. K. Mosley!”
